The Nutcracker is my favourite fairytale. I grew up watching the Barbie adaptation and for the last three years I have been going to the cinema livestream of the ballet as performed by the Royal Opera House. I hope to be able to see it for real sometime in the future! When I had an assignment during one of my creative writing courses in which I had to rewrite a story from the antagonists perspective I chose to rewrite The Nutcracker from the perspective of the Mouse King. Mijn favoriete sprookje is ‘De Notenkraker’. Als kind keek ik vaak de Barbie adaptatie en de laatste drie jaar ga ik naar de livestream in de bioscoop van de balletvoorstelling van de Royal Opera House. Ik hoop dat ik deze ooit eens in het echt kan bijwonen! Tijdens een van mijn schrijfcursussen kreeg ik de opdracht om een bekend verhaal te herschrijven in het perspectief van de antagonist. Ik koos er natuurlijk voor om De Notenkraker te herschrijven vannuit het perspectief van de muizen koning. Ik hoop dat jullie het leuk vinden en fijne feestdagen!
